As a founder of one of the top Google Ads agencies, I want to address an important topic in this article – Google Ads circumventing systems policy. For Google Ads violations, there are strategies and methods to deal with suspended accounts.

While it’s an apparent myth that suspension due to circumventing systems spells the end for your business, Website Pandas have helped many businesses bounce back.

Having a Google Ads Account suspended can be seen as a serious offense. Over 80-85% of accounts that were compromised couldn’t fix them. After being in this business for 15+ years and having run Google Ads myself, I know the common causes and even helped businesses recover their ad accounts. If this is the problem you face, we can help.

What is a Circumventing Systems Policy?

Both Google Ads and Facebook Ads networks will penalize advertisers attempting to evade ad approval processes or misuse the advertising systems. This is also called the Circumventing Systems Policy. This is done so the advertising ecosystem remains safe and secure for consumers and businesses alike.

Marketing that breaches the policy of bypassing systems may be permanently prohibited, suspended, or even banned.

How to Find That Google Ads Account is suspended for circumventing systems?

How to Find That Google Ads Account is suspended for circumventing systems?

A standard Google Ads account suspended by Google for “circumventing systems” generally means that the company was found with some form of suspicious activity targeting its advertising channel or a breach in one or more Google Ads regulations.

Any action attempting to misrepresent or undermine Google’s policies, automated processes, or controls to gain any benefit either directly or indirectly (for example; using bots that generate fake searches and clicks on ads). When Google suspends your ad, you won’t be able to:

  • Maintain content creation and advertising across all platforms,
  • Use connected email and payment accounts,
  • Create any new Google Ads accounts, and
  • Activate relevant Google Merchant Center accounts.

Common Causes of Violating Google Ads Circumventing Systems Policy

Common Causes of Violating Google's Circumventing Systems Policy

When a website or ad campaign gives an impression of malpractice designed to manipulate the Google system. This is by far the most common reason for Google ads suspension. Another possibility is associating with email addresses, websites, IP addresses, and accounts with a history of violations.

Based on my work helping customers with suspended accounts, I see these common reasons of violating Google Ads circumventing systems policy.

1. Cloaking

Cloaking is a method whereby you show different content to Google when it’s reviewing the site versus what end consumers see. More often than not, the intent is to keep non-compliant information at bay by sidestepping Google’s regulations. Examples include redirecting users to sites in non-compliant geographies (often altering the content or URLs on the site) and limiting page access.

For instance, a client of an agency may discover that cloaking has led to the suspension of their account. Their application unfortunately gets rejected after they send it. Their web team then obsessively combed through the website only to find nothing that could be considered cloaking. But why was it being flagged anyway?

When the Agency reviewed, their website revealed a few challenges:

  • The evaluations need to be removed since they may seem unauthentic.
  • Talking about weight loss is a touchy subject, as you can offend someone even when nothing is offensive. Unfortunately, their ads were suspended for violating Google’s advertising policies because this is a very sensitive subject.

2. Violations Across Several Accounts

The bypassing systems policy is usually violated when you own several accounts, and there are violations across some or all of them. That is considered as creating new assets or accounts to promote rejected content.

3. Violating Ads Rejected Multiple Times

Having your ads repeatedly rejected for violating the rules. If there is a mistake in the advertisement, you should rectify it right away to prevent suspension, which can happen if it is left unattended for a long time.

4. Bypassing Enforcement

Attempting to get around Google’s limitations by creating copies of prohibited advertising or material will also result in infractions of circumventing systems policy. Other instances include hiding illegal information and creating new accounts following bans.

5. Making a violating advertisement

Displaying illegal content using Google Ads product features to increase traffic or user numbers.

  • Using methods like having several accounts point to a single end URL and using hacked domains or tools, one can create copies of banned advertising, websites, or content to evade detection and enforcement processes (for this or any other Google Ads policy).
  • Using text manipulation to combine text from several Unicode blocks or languages, like purposely misspelling words or phrases that are prohibited.
  • To get around copyright and patent constraints, change your trademark. In general, it is not a good idea to use your rivals’ trademarks at any point throughout your marketing campaign, nor is it a good idea to trademark the ad title or ad language.

6. Incorrect Information

Giving Google incorrect verification information or other erroneous data during reviews or appeals may also cause Google to conclude that you have tried to get around their procedures, which might lead to an account suspension.

7. Frequently Violating the Rules

Infractions that result in suspension include:

  • Persistently breaking the rules on any of your accounts. To submit advertisements that resemble those that have been rejected (for this or any other Google Ads policy), new domains or accounts must be created.
  • Trying to re-enter the system after the suspension by opening a new Google Ads account.
  • Including shady billing information such as credit card numbers, addresses, or past-due balances.
  • Using an unqualified account or serving twice.

How to Fix Google Ads Circumventing Systems Policy

The very first thing you need to understand is that links to the website, and ad setup are often associated with this breach. If there is anything that seems suspicious, or any of the click trackers, and content doesn’t feel right then Google suspends your account during the verification process. Let’s look at the fixes:

1. Review Your Account or Violation Carefully

It is important to check your email; if you violate systems and Google stops them, they will let you know about your account activity. Unless they detail what it was in the email, then this might be a link to a faulty policy.

Think about your account in terms of the infractions/violations mentioned above.

Next, as soon as Google notifies you of activity in your account, go to your email.

Look for any communications that specify the infractions or any links to the rules that are violated.

Take note of the particular policy or issue that prompted their email.

Evaluate whether your account is compliant as per the data it provides.’

2. Implement Whatever Changes Needed

Investigate and check your own domain to see if it has been hacked. From there, you have already begun the path of fixing the priority issue.

Take a look at your data both in Google Ads and on your website.

Check for the uniformity of terms and conditions, About Us Page, Shipping Charges, and other price-related information.

Check whether your website has changed in recent times without putting your Ads account at risk.

Just keep in mind that Google may also consider honest mistakes (inconsistencies) as deceptive.

If you cannot fix such discrepancies, your account will be taken down.

3. Rectify Any Policy Breaches

Look into your account and understand the problem Here is your account baseline checklist:

  • Remove malware from your computer.
  • Modify the text of your ad and re-read it.
  • Troubleshoot issues with your payments.
  • Don’t let different accounts link to your website. Each should have unique URLs.

4. Make a New Ad Account

Be careful not to make a new Gmail ID, use an old and working one.

Clear the cache before you make changes.

Here, take care not to include outdated data in the new ad account so avoid matching it when scanning.

Using these safety measures can guarantee that things will be less problematic and avoid potential issues.

5. To Recover Your Account, Seek Expert Advice

If you believe it was a mistake and that you have not broken any regulations then submit an appeal with your reasoning. That being said, this process can be protracted and time-consuming because Google does not review your account immediately. Even worse, there is no guarantee you will recover your ad account.

Having managed numerous campaigns, I am not exaggerating when I say that almost anything – yes even the smallest thing – could be grounds for Google to suspend your account due to a violation.

Both Facebook and Google Ads have a plethora of rules that marketers must follow. You need to understand and comply with these regulations when creating and managing your ads.

Ensure your ads depict the product or service you are advertising accurately. Avoid using any dishonest or deceptive tactics by pass as this may be viewed as a systemic circumvention.
